Soft Landings.

Transitioning to a Five Star resort in Phu Quoc has delivered what we all so desperately needed, a soft landing. Between the exhaustion and chaos of acclimatization, and the disappointment of lost baggage, we needed an epic dose of sunshine, a never-ending view of “ocean meets sky” and a safe, comfortable and predictable place to lay our heads each night. Rounding out Day 6 in tropical paradise, our bodies are lax, our minds at ease (for the most part) & our skin many shades of tender pink despite whopping dollops of sunscreen. We have finally mobilized “School of Mom and Dad” and with only the slightest of protests, the kids have started mathing and journaling daily. Oscar’s entries are filled with details about beach treasures (mostly crab skeletons) and chocolaty treats (such as the daily chocolate hour), while Indie’s are focused on all the big feels that this trip has been bringing about. It is indeed a trip that evokes big feels…tipping the scales between romantic euphoria and then crashing into a dense realization of the state of our nomadic existence. Our new rhythm is so out of the realm of routine and predictability. I, personally, am enjoying the opportunity to carve out our time in whatever way we please but am starting to understand how challenging this may be for a little girl who is transitioning into a lady before our very eyes. So we make the commitment to forgive a little easier, to love a little harder, and to dial in a little deeper.

Yesterday, we took our first field trip to a local Pepper Farm which was filled with an abundance of fruit trees, vines and herbs. We gathered lemon grass, mint leaves, fresh eggs, coconuts and papaya along our tour which we subsequently used in a culinary class. This simple, grounding experience connected us directly to the reason why we are here and we left with much more than just full bellies.

Truthfully it's as perfect as it looks (Movenpick)
